Two golf questions?
Spartan Golfer asked:
I am going to be purchasing three new Titleist Vokey Design Spin Milled wedges in 52, 56, and 60 degrees.

I’ve tried both the oil can and normal satin versions and I like the oil can one more.
But, what really is the point of the oil can finsh as compared to a normal finish?
Also, what is the advantage of a stepless steel shaft to one with steps?
I haven’t made the team quite yet, we’re midway through tryouts because we we got rained out 3 days this week. But my chnaces are looking good so far!

I heard the Golf Pro at my local course say stepless helps damper vibration , I really could not tell the difference at all so I guess it comes down to personnel choice , also I play the 60, and 56 degree oil can Titleist Spin Milled , I found the oil can to have a softer feel than the others , the only thing with the oil can though is that even if you clean them after every round they still start to oxidize and get little spots of rust , so they look a little old they still play and feel great . Hope that helps !
By the way did you make your Golf Team ? just curious .

The only difference really is personal preference. Some say the “oxidation” from the oil can help with adding spin, but i dunno about that. I play Callaway’s Forged Plus irons in the vintage finish. i just like how it looks, its difficult to keep a chrome finish looking good, and mine is supposed to look “old” so thats why i like it. Plus you don’t get any glare coming off of it. As far as the stepless shaft i have no idea. they say it transmits feel better, but i wouldn’t know. i’d say mostly again personal preference on looks.

The rusty finish of the Oil Can wedge creates more fricton which means you should get more spin on your approach shots.
Stepless shafts advertise a more consistent weight transfer providing more feel / feedback for the player.
Good luck making the team!

i am a 1 handicap and i went to the spin milled after playing with the cleveland cg10 and other wedges…i went back the cg10 after a couple months….the cleveland cg10 is simply the best feeling, most consistent wedge…..go with it
