Keeping clubs clean during a round?
When you are playing a round of golf an important thing to remember is to clean your clubs.
Your wedges are especially prone to clogging up with dirt, soil and sand and as the wedge is grooved to provide spin if you let the groove fill up with dirt you will be losing one very important aspect of the wedge.
After each wedge shot you should get into the habit of wiping the club with a towel, which is hanging on your bag, right? But sometimes the crud gets in there and a wipe will not remove it so use a tee, get the point into the groove and scrape it out, then wipe with a towel.
There are special little wire brush devices that fold up and sit in your pocket but let the kids buy you one for your birthday, a tee does the job just as well.

I always carry a brush with my towel. This way you can quickly brush the clubs down after your shot. For the times when some debris gets caught in the grooves, I use a tee to clean out the grooves before my shot.

using brush is a good way to keep the club clean.

I use a brush and a towel. If you really want to clean your clubs you can gather some cleaning materials like a bucket of water, some soap, a towel and an old toothbrush. Then add the soap to the bucket of water to create suds. Put your irons in the bucket of soap and water for a couple of minutes. Take out your irons(don’t wash them off) and clean the grooves out with the old toothbrush. After you clean out the grooves then you can wash off the clubheads. Dry off the clubheads and you have clubs looking as good as new.

My friend has a little bottle that he puts water in and it has a brush on it that he can squirt some water on the club, use the brush after each time he uses the club if needed. I am not sure where he got it.

You need to buy a dual-headed brush, this contans two different brushes. One with soft bristles for cleaning sand and loose debris off your club face and one with a wire brush for cleaning heavily impacted dirt from the face and grooves.
You can alse buy a specific groove cleaning tool that is v shaped and made of soft metal (Hard enough to remove crap from grooves, soft anough so as not to scratch or chip club!)
I must admit I use: –
A Tee
A Towel
Some Spit!!
Gross but true!!

No secret whatsoever. The wet towel( one end only) will wipe off the grime. The dry end will dry the face. A sharp wooden tee will take the gunk out of the grooves. Do this after every shot like the pro caddies do on TV and the club is always ready for use.

I bought a brush from Dunham’s that has a water bottle attatched to it, so the clubhead gets wet while you’re scrubbing it. It helps get the debris off the face and grooves near perfectly.
a wire brush works the best, but I’ve read in golf magazines that it isn’t good for the clubface, so the water bottle is better for me, personally. Plus, it only cost $5!

It will help keep your grooves clean and sharp.

I usually spit on the face of the club, and polish it with my towel. A tee is fine for cleaning the grooves.
The round takes long enough without using brushes etc!
