Without seeing a swing, I would say stand a little closer to the ball. Of course, there are a number of things you could be doing wrong.

Keep your head down is right. Just don’t take your eyes off that ball until you have hit it, and aim for a spot on the ground right behind the ball.
    O and Practice!!

Stay down, Keep your knees flexed through the shot and try making your divot in front of the ball.

the usual problem is that as the club gets longer and there is less loft, we tend to swing harder because we want the ball to go further, then we also try to help the ball into the air. Try to swing the long irons at the same pace yo would swing your PW, use a smooth even tempo, and just let the ball get in the way. don’t try to hit the ball into the air. a good drill is to take a full swing with your 5 iron, and swing slow enogh to hit it only 80 to 100 yards, it will help your sequence, and help you swing smooth, do this with all you long clubs up to driver. it will teach you to not try and lift the ball. slowly pick up your swing speed until you are swinging at about 80% of your maximum, and i bet you’ll e hitting it better.

Without seeing your swing, the easiest answer to give is keeping your head and front shoulder down. I make the same mistake with longer clubs in that I often try to muscle the ball towards its destination. In doing so, my upper body pulls upward and I top the ball.

Force yourself on every shot to continue staring down at where the ball is after contact. Get in the habit of waiting a couple seconds until looking at the flight path of the ball, which will help correct this problem

dont stand closer to the ball because that will cause you to swing steeper and come down on top of the ball. your probably lifting up through impact so you have to stay in the shot and swing through the ball.
