Try your first 18 hole first and have a feeling about it. It is a different world when playing 18 holes as compare to playing at driving range. Direction and control is something you need to focus as a beginner. Once you can hit the ball solidly, you can try to increase the distance.

I would recommend going to the golf course. Then you can enjoy the fruits of your labor of all the hard work. If you get paired with some people make them aware of your golfing ability. If you're at the local course and by yourself, ask the pro to pair you up with some people of possible equal ability. After playing a few rounds and learning from people in your group, you can go back to the driving range and work on some things. Don't play the back tees until your ready.

Word of advise: Don't get caught up in how far you or other people hit the ball with each particular club. There are a lot of factors that go into play in regards to distance. Golf is about playing tendencies, percentages and course management. Golf is also very addictive. There has not been a round that I haven't played that I did not feel like I could have been one shot better. It can ruin a good marriage (living example). I play to a +1 handicap but always feel there is something I can do better. The best practice you can get into is developing a pre-shot routine that includes some visualization. This will come easier after you've been playing a little while. You must practice the pre-shot routine while also hitting balls on the range. It needs to become part of your swing not in addition to it... I hope this helps...

its not a crappy golf game, thats farther than i can hit my 3 wood and ive been golfin 3 years (im 15) if u wanna get better take private lssons, they may cost a lot but a pro can analyze everything in your golf game. it will eliminate a slice and you will add distance good luck

When I started playing golf, I went to par 3 courses first and worked my way up to regulation courses. When you first start at a regular course, you will ask yourself why you can't hit the ball like you do when you are practicing. That's because you are not practicing anymore. Golf is about repetition. That is what the practice is all about. The more you practice, the more repetitive things will be and you will build that memory in your muscles. Go on out there and see what you can do. Keep practicing!

You really need to get out and play the game. Almost everybody who ever played the game has struggled at first.

I wouldn't recommend that you play in the first group out on a Saturday morning, though. You'll probably play at a slower pace at first. You don't want to have the groups behind you constantly telling you to hurry up.

Call a local course and let them know you're a beginner. They may be able to recommend a good starting time.

Or, there might be a par-three course or an "executive" course near you. They're usually good places for beginners to start.

But it's important to get out on a course. This will let you hit some golf shots, as opposed to just hitting the ball.

The best reason to hit the course is being outside in a beautiful setting with no cell phones, no outside distractions or a wife or girlfriend around to find something for you to do around the house. Golf is a game where you can get better the more you play. If you add three of your buddies to make a foursome, a few cold beers to sip on and a nice course to play, it won't matter what you shoot. You will have had fun just being out there and enjoying the day with some friends over a good round of golf, beer and quality time spent.
