I agree that 130 yards is a tad too long for wedges.

The heavier the head of the club less is the head speed required for ball flight at contact. I would agree with you if you were talking about your long or mid irons. But the short irons and especially the wedges are not for distance, they are for accuracy and hence you swing them slower anyway. So I suggest try them and then change. Flip side to trying them out is that you may end up making them look a little too much used and lower their trade in values.
Your call.

golf wedge

I would say Cleveland or Ping. It just depends on what you like. They both offer different features. Hope that helps

Create a video blog...instantly.

A VERY inexpensive but pretty solid set is the Adams Tom Watson signature set. On sale the THREE wedges 52, 56, 60 are about $100 at TGW. I would agree that for most golfers 130 is not wedge distance.

Cleveland wedges are affordable, last a long time, and very reliable. I own two of them and love them. Typically $75-100.

Well, Cleveland and Titleist, even cobra wedges are expensive, but no if you buy them used. You can buy them used at a Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy and you would never know they were used for about half the price it is really great!!

Learn to play the wedges which came with the set. If they feel to heavy choke down on the shaft a bit. 130 yards is too much distance for the PW and GW. Wedges are finesse clubs. Learn to use them in that manner.
