Golf Clubs?

Could Someone please explain to me the types and subtypes (ex. Wedges and Sand Wedges) to me also explain the distance each club hits?

Down and dirty explanation. the distance each club hits obviously depends on the person, but….
Wedges are for short distances with sand wedges used for getting out of sand traps and pitching wedges used for close in shots near the green- A beginner might hit a pitching wedge 50 yards where a pro migght hit one 150 yards +.
The irons are for middle distances. The lower the number the longer distance it will typically hit. Irons usually run from a 9-iron to a 2-iron, although a lot of golfers don’t carry 2 or 3 irons anymore.
Woods and drivers are for the longest distances. Fairway woods (usually 2-5 woods) are used in the middle of the fairway with still a good distance to go to the green (again a 2-wood generally hits farther than a 5 wood).
The driver is used almost exclusively for your first shot off of a tee.
That is very general but it will give you an idea.

yeah, good answer. remember, it makes no difference what joe schmo hits his 5 iron, or what tiger hits it. actually, especially tiger, or any beast like him. how far they go is where you get them, period, and you only find that out in the lab(range or field).
if you were strictly referring to wedges, same deal…so many different degrees out there. i will say this, i’m never afraid to hit an 8/9-iron instead of the wedge a better partner might be hitting from the same spot because all that matters is getting there. i don’t wanna be perfectly aligned with the pin, but 15 yards shy of the green. that does me no good.
the higher degree loft on a wedge – 52 to 54 to 56 and up to 60(lob) gets the ball higher – and that means less sidespin right off the clubface, so of course it’s preferrable to approach a green with a wedge rather than an 8-iron…the question is, can you get it there, because there’s the give and take of losing distance when you gain loft.

Woods
Woods have a bigger club head and as the name suggest it is made of wood (last time), now it just looks like it’s made of wood. Because of their mass, they technically can hit further than irons if the swing is correct.
1 Wood (or driver) – By right should be the longest, most people I see hit above 150m
3 Wood – Used on the fairway, difficult to hit from rough. By right should be longer than your 1 or 3 iron and shorter than your driver.
5 Wood – Used on the fairway, difficult to hit from rough. By right should be longer than your 1 or 3 iron and shorter than your 3 wood.
Hybrid
Hybrids are designed in such a way that they have the club head mass but with a hitting face like iron. It can also look like irons with the mass of woods. The idea is woods by right can go further but more difficult to hit. Irons by right are easier to hit but can’t go as far as your woods. So they have a hybrid.
Hybrid typically will slot in nicely between your woods or irons. Depending on their loft.

Wedges/Utility
You have potato wedges.
Sw (Sand) to help you out of bunkers with their loft typically > 50
Pw (Pitching) to help you with pitching or chipping distance usually within 100m
Aw (Approach) it’s the loft

Wedges are clubs that belong to the iron set which have the highest loft or degree in them . They are distinguished by the suposed distance and control a golfer would like to achive . We have the Pitching ,Gap , Lob , A ,and last but not the least Sand . These all vary with the degrees in their club face from 50 to 69 degrees . the further you are the lower the dergee in use . For example you have 130 yards left to the green so the normal club of choice will be the pitching wedge . And so on and so forth . It is best to have just Two wedges . A pitching and Sand . To master them will be to your advantange as you will learn to lob and contol your ball better as against having 5 different wedges which will only confuse a golfer .
